Accessibility statement

Last updated 27 October 2026 · Effective from 27 October 2026 · Version 1.0

The short version

  • Gaming is for everyone, and so is The Player Code. We want the website and app to work for as many people as possible.
  • Our goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
  • We're not there yet, and we haven't been independently tested. This page lists what's done and what isn't.
  • Hit a problem? Email hello@theplayercode.com and we'll help, and fix it where we can.

1. What we've done so far

On the website:

  • Plain English, short sentences, and jargon explained.
  • Pages work on any screen size, from a small phone to a wide monitor, and you can zoom in.
  • A dark design with text colours chosen for strong contrast. Even the small print is kept readable.
  • Buttons have names that screen readers can read out.
  • If you've asked your device to reduce motion, our animations calm down.
  • Videos only load when you choose to play them.

In the iPhone app:

  • VoiceOver labels throughout, including a "Swap quest" action you don't need to swipe for.
  • Reduce Motion is respected everywhere.
  • Every colour theme is checked so text has a contrast of at least 4.5 to 1 (7 to 1 for main text).
  • Quests that use steps or location are optional, and there are always other ways to earn XP.

2. What isn't finished yet

  • No independent audit. We haven't had the website or app checked by an accessibility specialist yet, or tested every page against WCAG 2.2 AA.
  • Pictures. Some news pictures may not have a full written description yet.
  • Videos. Trailers are played through YouTube, so captions depend on the publisher who made them.
  • Text size in the app. The app doesn't yet follow every iPhone text size setting on every screen.
  • Move quests. Some quests count steps. We're working on quests that also accept active minutes, a guided routine or wheelchair pushes.

We'll update this page as we fix these.

3. Tell us about a problem

If something on the website or in the app is hard to use, or you need something in a different format, email hello@theplayercode.com with "Accessibility" in the subject. Tell us the page or screen, what you were trying to do, and the device and any assistive technology you use. We'll reply within five working days, help you get what you need in another way if we can, and tell you when it's fixed.

If you're not happy with our reply, our complaints procedure explains what happens next.

4. About this statement

We wrote this statement on 27 October 2026, based on our own checks. We'll review it at least every 12 months, and whenever we make a big change to the website or app.
